Understanding and using the Exercise plan

Total Weekly Activity Plan

  • This exercise plan looks at the total amount of running and walking your patient does in a weekly period, not just periods of continuous exercise.
  • It is often necessary to wait until a week or more of activity data has been collected before setting levels on this plan as it is easier to set achievable levels once you know what your patient is currently managing.
  • This plan is ideal for older, obese and arthritic patients or any patient that is unable to participate in owner initiated activity such as a lead walk, or a run at the dog park.
  • Increasing total weekly exercise is often more achievable initially than attempting to manage a certain number of walks each week as depending on the increase you are wanting it can be managed by an extra walk to the letter box each day, or chasing a ball in the back yard for a few minutes each day.

Threshold levels are indicated on the graphs by the green line and the total minutes spent walking and running can be adjusted at any time to any level you require.

You can swap between the two plans at any time by clicking the change mode button.
